Contentment

In honest transparencey I deal with a struggle of contentment and discontentment. Recently, God has graciously began to deal with me on these issues. I came across a 2 weeks mini series from (Matt Chandler's church) The Village podcast that really helped me think through Godly contentment and Godly discontentment. Here are some things that hit home for me:

1 Timothy 6:6-7
"But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world
and we can take nothing out of it."

When we are not content, we are wanting something more than God
When we are not content, we are wanting something more than what God has given us.

We have to be content were God has us now - in this life stage, because if we aren't content now then we won't be content when the next life stages comes or the next, etc.
Discontent is literally a 100% lack of faith in God's plan and purpose our current situation. Discontentment is absolutely a heart issue - not a situational issue.

Be content with what you have, like Paul "But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ...(phil 3:7-8)" WOW

A mind set grounded in Godly contentment is this:
"How rich am I in Christ, that I can afford to loose all the other stuff."

Thank you Village Church for the helpful sermon series!
